SEN with Sam

C@LL is delighted to invite you to this very special session on what’s going on in the world of SEN right now and how it affects our children. You may know Sam Carlisle from when her daughter Elvi was at Linden Lodge or from her always to the point posts on our Classlist group. Sam is an award winning journalist and campaigner. With a general election looming, hear how the political parties are faring on disability policy and other extraordinary insights from Sam’s work with government, charities and families of disabled children across the country.

Sam really understands our world so do join us via Zoom for this rare opportunity to hear how the big issues at play impact our lives, it’s going to be a very relevant session for all of us.

Sam Carlisle:
Sam is mum to ex-Linden Lodge pupil Elvi, 22, and a co-founder of C@LL. A former journalist, she now runs Cause Communications, a PR company that works with charities. Her campaign work with the Disabled Children's Partnership has won multiple awards, and Cause's Guinness World Record winning campaign with Hidden Disabilities Sunflower has just won Campaign of the Year at the Shaw Trust 100. RSE - Relationships and Sex Education Talk

RSE - Relationships and Sex Education Talk

C@LL is hosting an ONLINE session on Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE).

As the parent or carer of a child with special needs, you may dismiss RSHE as not relevant to you. The devastating truth is that those with special needs and disabilities are more likely to experience all kinds of abuse. But equally, understanding RSHE can help us all build better relationships with our children and young people.

The first part of the session will be information-sharing led by Teacher & RSHE Lead Sinéad Bevan, Occupational Therapy Lead Fiona Pringle, and Speech and Language Therapy Lead Megan Armstrong.

The second part of the session will be a Q&A.

Please fill out the pre-session survey here: https://forms.office.com/r/h0TZGxLeur

Please confirm attendance via Classlist or via communityatlindenlodge@gmail.com. We look forward to seeing you there!

Life after Linden Lodge: school to college, a parent’s perspective

Transition from school to college can be exciting but also daunting. All parents, carers and staff are invited to a virtual talk from a past Linden Lodge parent who has been through it. Join us via Zoom on Tuesday 8th November at 8pm to hear Britt Iversen, mum to Raz, share her experiences of the process and timings, what to look for in a college, pitfalls and top tips. We won’t cover Linden Lodge or individual local authority processes, but you'll be able to ask questions about getting the right outcome for your young person.

So, whether you’re about to go through this transition or are curious for future years, please let us know if you're coming and join us via the Zoom link. (For link visit Classlist or email us at communityatlindenlodge@gmail.com.)
